It may not be the holidays yet, but it’s time to get out your list and check it twice. Your bridal shower list that is. If you’re part of the bridal party and responsible for putting together the shower, you’ll want to keep these dates and duties in mind.
3 + Months Before
- Talk to the bride. Although most of the details will be left up to you, it’s nice to have a general idea of what the bride-to-be wants. Is there a certain theme she’d love? A favorite place she’d like it held?
- Choose the theme/venue. Now that you’ve got some ideas, come up with a theme and where the shower will be held. If you need to make reservations, do so now.
- Plan the guest list.
- Choose a date.
- Purchase invitations.
2 Months Before
- Plan the menu, if necessary.
- Order special items like linens and rental equipment, if needed.
- Brainstorm on decorations, music, and activities.
- Compile addresses for the invitations.
- Call out-of-towners. Let them know about the upcoming festivity and that you’ll be sending an official invitation.
1 Month Before
- Put together the invitations. Make sure you include registry information and if the guest needs to bring/wear/etc. something specific to the shower.
- Mail invitations.
- Shop for decorations, paper goods, favors, and anything you might need for activities.
2 Weeks Before
- Buy your shower gift.
- Make a food and drink shopping list.
1 Week Before
- Purchase groceries.
- Confirm delivery times, orders, and RSVPs.
- Prepare party favors and shower activities.
The Day Before
- Check in with bridesmaids to confirm any last minute details.
- Set up tables and arrange decorations.
- Prepare food that can be made in advance.
- Designate a gift opening area – Have a chair for the bride-to-be, trash bags for gift wrap, and a notebook and pen for the person who will write down the gifts/givers.
